Norton Common Nature Reserve, Disovering the countryside in the heart of Letchworth
Here you can explore woods alive with birds, roam through grassland full of wild flowers and find traces of ancient farming. You can follow the course of the Pix Brook and find the mineral-rich springs that feed it.
The Common is crossed by many paths. Some are surfaced and usable throughout the year. Others are woodland or grass paths which may get wet and muddy.
The Common is managed to promote the wildlife that lives here and the enjoyment of people who visit. A free leaflet giving more information on the site is available in the local library, Tourist Information Centre, other local outlets and online at www.north-herts.gov.uk
The Friends of Norton Common are an active group of local people who help look after the Common. Anyone interested in joining should contact the Countryside Management Service on 01462 459395
